'Horse Owner Certificate' package

Is this the right holiday for me?

The British Horse Society's Horse Owner Certificates are offered at four levels of knowledge with regard to the care and management of the horse and are specifically aimed at the first time horse owner, parent of horse owners or potential owners. Each level is  assessed in the form of a written paper, which should be completed under examination conditions with an adjudicator present. These courses may only be run by BHS Registered Instructors.

Our package offers you a chance to gain the knowledge and confidence needed for caring for your own horse, and the chance to gain a British Horse Society Approved qualification -  whilst having a fabulous holiday in a "horse paradise"!.  Aimed at parties of at between 2 and 4, the course follows the BHS Horse Owner Certificate syllabus.  The format of the course includes formal lectures & demonstrations, and ample opportunity to gain practical experience in all aspects of owning and caring for your own horse.

We have a range of amazing horses to work with ...

Handing over the care of our beloved horses here at Gilfach is not done lightly! During this package you can be assured that you will be instructed, coached and guided in all aspects of caring for, handling and riding your horse for the duration of your stay at all times. Our Health and Safety policies aim to ensure exactly that for all guests, staff and horses at Gilfach at all times.

We only cater for one group of up to four guests at any one time...

We offer one-to-one tuition, supervision and support during your stay with us, thus ensuring your safety and confidence whilst being around horses. Our excellent equestrian facilities enable us to provide a first class service to not only you, our guests, but also our equine friends.

"Truly inspiring" tuition is available 'on-tap'...

The instruction/lessons you will receive at Gilfach may well differ from the standard riding school experience, in that we work on teaching you to work with your horse, and vica versa -. i.e. Classical Equitation. Our instruction is very individual, pinpointing areas that you, as an individual, may need to address. As with the training of our horses, we work by encouraging good riding through intelligent instruction and training.

Duration of Package

In order to complete the whole of the syllabus of each HOC level at Gilfach, your stay should be a minimum of six days.  However, you may cover the syllabus in stages (staggering the course over a number of visits) if desired.
